Emily Ellis Schelle
Emily Ellis Schelle is a contemporary visual artist and writer based in the Pacific Northwest. Working across photography, AI-generated imagery, and experimental digital media, her practice explores the intersections of nature, technology, perception, and spirituality.
Central to her work is an interest in duality—the organic and artificial, visible and invisible, physical and virtual. Drawing from natural forms, architecture, memory, and the symbolic language of the material world, Schelle creates images that examine transformation and the shifting boundaries between what is real, imagined, and constructed.
Her engagement with artificial intelligence reflects a broader inquiry into creativity and consciousness in an era of rapid technological change. She approaches emerging technologies as both artistic mediums and subjects of investigation, exploring their capacity to expand visual expression while questioning how they reshape human perception, imagination, and experience.
Schelle's perspective is informed by a multidisciplinary background spanning photography, design, political theory, technology, and contemplative practice. She studied photography at the New York Institute of Photography and AI for Creatives at Parsons School of Design, and holds a master's degree in Political Science from Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Her studies also include 500 hours of yoga teacher training, reflecting a longstanding engagement with consciousness and embodied experience.
